The Original Collapsible Foam Roller

My daughter plays travel softball and left her roller at the last hotel room. We found this online and figured we would try it out. It is AWESOME!!! It is collapsable and comes with a little bag making it perfect to travel to tournaments. When we need it we just pop it open and use it. I can even use it on my husband when his back goes out and it loosens him up. Definitely worth getting.

I was originally a little apprehensive when I zoomed in on the photos of this collapsible foam roller as I thought the raised edges might be a little hard on my back. I also have a foam roller purchased from Costco which is softer, longer, but has higher raised edges and the two are quite comparable.

The Fitster foam roller collapses to a height of 5.2", extends to a length/height of 13.8" and also comes with a nice cloth storage bag. As a bonus there was also an included red therapy bad which is useful for exercises while using the roller.

Prices of foam rollers seem to vary and it seems to be competitively priced. I would imagine you can purchase a non collapsible roller for less but with the Fitster you do get the product shipped to your door and save on storage space. Depending on the types of exercises you use your foam roller for this may be wide enough but I can still see a use case for some of the wider rollers.

I do like the carrying handle built into the ends of the foam roller and for me I expect to basically replace my full size roller. As mentioned in a few other reviews the collapsing/expansion mechanism isn't perfect so you may have to shift some of the raised points a bit but it isn't a huge lift.

If space is limited and you don't need a roller that is longer than 13.8" long I would recommend giving this a shot. Given the space savings and portability this is something that will keep your space looking cleaner and can easily be tossed in a backpack…

The Fitster Collapsible premium foam roller has a cool design that allows you to compress the roller to a smaller shape for storage. When extended it's as long as a regular roller, but collapses to about 1/3 the length. It comes with a pull-string storage bag and mine came with a complimentary stretch band.

I thought this would sag when weight was put on it. Even though you can flex it a bit by torquing it in your hands, when weight is put on it, it is very solid. In fact, for some, it may be a bit too solid. The feel is very hard in use. The red (in this version) zig-zags are very thin rubber and very stiff. I thought it was plastic at first, but I think they are rubber. They are only about 2mm thick so no real compression in them. By comparison, the blue roller in the photos has large bumps all over, but these are soft foam and compress and expand when in use. I don't really know what the science is (if there is a science) for the bumps and valleys of these things, and I feel I get the same results with either of these rollers. If you are overly sensitive, this might be a bit hard for you.

I like the convenince of being able to collapse the roller for tucking away on a shelf. You can also use it in the collapse state for more focussed areas or as a massage aid.

I wanted this because I had a foam roller and it took so much space in my living room. I liked that fact that you can store it anywhere as it becomes so small plus you can use it on your calf’s easier by making it smaller. It is easy to pull out with the handles on the side and then push back. The look is also very sleek and it does the job, my back felt very stretched and opened after using it. The cute little free gift of the band was a pleasant surprise, small business really do care. The only con I have is that this hurts, the material is good quality but it is not foamy enough. So it actually hurt me the first time I used it and was hard to use for the first time as I am used to actually foam and not plastic hard rollers. But honestly after using it a few time my body started getting used to it and it doesn’t feel that hard. I think it would be great if they made it a bit more softer. But overall this is great for the price and works extremely well!
